Vantage is a scouting app for VEX V5RC teams, built by a competitor on team 66556Z for the way scouting actually happens: standing next to a field, on venue wifi that does not work.
What it does
- Works offline. Event schedules, rankings and your own scouting are on the phone, not fetched when you open them.
- Shared scouting. Your team scouts into one group and everyone sees it, rather than five people filling in five spreadsheets.
- Live match data. Schedules, results and rankings that update while the event runs.
- Match notifications. Your next match, with the time, the field, and who you are playing.
- Pick lists. Star a team while scouting and it lands in your list.
What it costs
Nothing. There is no paid tier, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking of any kind. It is a tool built for one team that turned out to be worth sharing.
How the rating works
Vantage publishes its own team rating, Vantage Points, and publishes the whole method with it - the formula, a worked example you can check with a calculator, how it was tested against every match of a full season, and what it deliberately cannot measure. A rating you cannot check is a rating you should not trust.
