Vantage — Terms of Use

Last updated 31 August 2026

Vantage is a free scouting application for VEX V5RC teams. By using it you agree to the terms below. They are written to be read.

Scope

These terms govern your use of Vantage (the “Service”), comprising the iOS application, the website at vantage-scout.app, and the API that serves them. If you do not accept these terms, do not use the Service.

Licence

Subject to these terms, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the application on devices you own or control, for your own and your team’s use. You may not redistribute, sell, rent, sublicense, modify, or reverse-engineer the application, except to the extent that such a restriction is prohibited by applicable law. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

Permitted use

The Service is provided for scouting, rankings, event information, and competition preparation. You may not use it in any manner that violates the rules of an event you are attending, any applicable law, or the rights of others.

Your content

You retain ownership of the scouting notes, ratings, pick lists, and autonomous routes you create (“Your Content”). By using the synchronisation features you grant Vantage a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, transmit, and display Your Content for the sole purpose of operating the Service. That licence extends to no other purpose. Your Content is not sold, disclosed to third parties, or used to train machine-learning models.

Shared groups

A scouting group is a shared workspace. Members approved by the group owner may view and modify the content it holds. The owner controls membership and may delete the group, and its contents, for all members.

Content you contribute to a group remains with that group if you delete your account. Group content is the collective work of its members and cannot be withdrawn unilaterally. This is disclosed in the application before a deletion is confirmed, and in the privacy policy.

Acceptable use

You may not attempt to gain unauthorised access to any account, group, or system; interfere with the Service or place unreasonable load on it; scrape, harvest, or bulk-extract data from it; or use it to harass, impersonate, or misrepresent any person or team. Access may be suspended or withdrawn for any of the above.

Third-party data and content

Team, event, match, and ranking data is obtained from the public RobotEvents API and from robotstatistics.com, and remains subject to the terms of those providers. The V5RC Override game manual distributed with the application is the copyrighted work of the REC Foundation, is reproduced without modification for offline reference, and remains its property.

Ratings

Vantage Points is a statistical model computed from publicly available match results. Its method, its measured performance, and the measures on which other systems outperform it are published in full. Ratings are provided for informational purposes. Alliance selection, strategy, and all competitive decisions remain your responsibility.

Availability and changes to the Service

The Service is under active development and provided free of charge. Features may be added, modified, or removed, and access may be interrupted, without notice. Ratings are recomputed as a season progresses and as the model is revised, so published figures may change; material corrections are documented in the rating’s own documentation.

Disclaimer of warranty

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including as to accuracy, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose. Verify any information on which you intend to rely against its official source.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Vantage and its author are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from use of the Service, including any competitive outcome, missed match, or decision made in reliance on data or ratings it presents.

Age

VEX competitors include minors, and the Service is built accordingly: it carries no advertising, performs no tracking, and never requests an email address. If you are below the age at which you may accept these terms in your jurisdiction, review them with a parent or guardian.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be revised. The date above records the most recent revision, and continued use of the Service after a revision constitutes acceptance of it.
